What kind of desktop would a chaotic mind like mine use?  After a bit of waiting, I decided to overhaul my tried and true system 'Helios'. Since the case and several other parts were being reused, this was considered a point-upgrade. The Mk 2 update is a P4 @ 3.2GHz, 1Gig DDR400 RAM, ATI Radeon X800 Pro, WinXP SP2 rig intended to be my primary gaming and performance unit. HeavyArms serves as the new media rig and general purpose application system. HeavyArms replaces Trowa which unfortunatley was retired after a motherboard short.

"HeavyArms"

  • AMD Ath64 3500+
  • Shuttle SFF motherboard SN25P
  • Corsair 2GB DDR400
  • Nvidia 7600GS 512MB
  • WD 250Gig 8MB Cache HDD
  • Hitatchi Deskstar 250GB
  • Windows XP Pro SP2
  • Sony DVD+/-RW 12x

Replacing My original SFF rig "Trowa", HeavyArms came about due to an unfortunate motherboard short on my last box.

Welcome to the fold HeavyArms. Built using a Shuttle SN25P and an AMD Ath64, this box is a bit larger than my previous SFF which made working on the interior easier. The improved SilentX PSU and a better cooling duct are welcome additions. Later upgrades for this system may include the inclusion of an X2 dual-core processor and additional SATA drives. The latest Seagate drives may be added at a later date. If possible this system will push the capacity limit of my lab systems and you could be seeing total storage going to about 1.3TBs.

"Slate"

  • PowerPC G4, 1.67GHz
  • Apple PowerBook 15"
  • 512MB RAM (Stock)
  • ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 64MB
  • 80GB HDD
  • Mac OS X (Tiger)
  • SuperDrive

Slate serves as the newest addition to my computing family. A replacement laptop, Slate is used mostly as a web surfing, email, media station and a learning tool for me.
